POSITION PURPOSE
The purpose of the Lead Pest Control Technician / Supervisor-in-Training position is to develop a suitably capable and dependable employee to assume responsibility for the coordination and supervision of A1 Pest Control Agency Limited’s field operations.
The successful candidate will participate in structured onboarding, technical instruction, supervised field training, leadership coaching and competency assessments designed to prepare the employee to perform the full responsibilities of the Lead Pest Control Technician/Supervisor position.
The position supports A1’s commitment to safe and effective pest management, operational excellence, exceptional customer service, employee development, environmental responsibility and continuous improvement.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Lead Pest Control Technician / Supervisor-in-Training will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and other designated personnel to learn A1’s approved pest-management methods, safety requirements, customer-service standards, operational procedures and supervisory practices.
During the developmental period, the employee will assist with field inspections, service delivery, daily work coordination, technician support, customer communication, quality monitoring, equipment control, inventory management and operational reporting.
As the employee demonstrates the required technical, operational, safety and leadership competencies, progressively greater responsibility may be assigned. Independent supervisory authority will be granted only after the employee has successfully completed the required training and competency assessments and has received formal authorisation from the Company.
The successful candidate must therefore demonstrate strong leadership potential, sound judgement, accountability, professionalism, safety awareness, willingness to learn and the ability to guide others respectfully and effectively.
DEVELOPMENTAL NATURE OF THE APPOINTMENT
This is a structured Supervisor-in-Training appointment. It is not an immediate appointment to unrestricted supervisory or technical authority.
The employee will be expected to:
- Complete A1’s structured onboarding and technical training programme.
- Learn and consistently apply A1’s approved procedures, standards and serice methods.
- Participate in supervised field assignments and practical demonstrations.
- Complete technical, safety, customer-service and leadership assessments.
- Accept coaching and demonstrate improvement based on feedback.
- Develop the ability to coordinate people, schedules, equipment and customer assignments.
- Demonstrate readiness before being authorised to perform duties independently.
- Progress towards the full Lead Pest Control Technician/Supervisor position based on demonstrated competence, conduct, performance and organisational requirements.
Previous pest-control or supervisory experience may be considered an asset. However, it will not replace A1’s required training, competency assessment or authorisation process.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Training and Competency Development
- Participate actively in the Company’s onboarding, technical training, supervisory development and continuous-learning programmes.
- Learn A1’s service procedures, pest-management methods, customer-service standards and operational requirements.
- Develop working knowledge of pest identification, pest behaviour, inspection techniques and treatment options.
- Learn the safe selection, preparation, application, storage and disposal of approved pest-management products.
- Complete all required observations, demonstrations, practical exercises and competency assessments.
- Apply coaching and corrective feedback to improve technical and leadership performance.
- Maintain required training records and demonstrate continued professional development.
- Support the training and development of other employees when authorised to do so.
- Field Operations and Work Coordination
- Assist with organising daily field activities, technician assignments, routes, service schedules and operational priorities.
- Review assigned work orders and help ensure that technicians understand customer requirements and service expectations.
- Monitor the progress of scheduled assignments and report delays, difficulties or operational concerns promptly.
- Help coordinate emergency service requests and changes to scheduled work under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer.
- Confirm that technicians have the appropriate equipment, products, documentation and Personal Protective Equipment before leaving for assignments.
- Assist with maintaining effective communication between management, administrative personnel and the field team.
- Help ensure that assigned work is completed within established timeframes and in accordance with Company standards.
- Recommend practical adjustments to routes, assignments and field activities to improve operational efficiency.
- Technical Pest-Management Services
- Conduct or assist with inspections of residential, commercial, industrial, hospitality, institutional, government and outdoor locations.
- Identify pest activity, contributing conditions, potential entry points and treatment requirements.
- Perform approved pest-management services under the appropriate level of supervision.
- Apply only Company-approved products, equipment, methods and treatment procedures.
- Recommend preventive and corrective measures to help customers reduce future pest activity.
- Monitor treatment outcomes and identify the need for follow-up services.
- Escalate complex, unusual, high-risk or unfamiliar pest-management situations to the Chief Executive Officer or another authorised person.
- Maintain professional technical standards and avoid making recommendations outside the employee’s training or authority.
- Team Leadership and Employee Support

- Assist with providing daily direction and practical support to technicians and trainees.
- Help employees understand their assignments, service requirements and expected standards.

- Quality Assurance
- Assist with monitoring the quality and completeness of pest-management services.
- Conduct or participate in field observations, job inspections and follow-up assessments.
- Verify that treatments are performed in accordance with Company procedures and customer requirements.
- Review service documentation for accuracy, completeness and timely submission.
- Identify service deficiencies, recurring problems or opportunities for improvement.
- Recommend corrective action, retraining or follow-up service where appropriate.
- Help ensure that customer locations are left clean, safe and professionally presented after service.
- Support the consistent application of A1’s quality standards across the field team.
- Customer Service and Relationship Management
- Provide courteous, respectful and professional service to all customers.
- Explain inspection findings, approved treatment procedures, preparation requirements and aftercare recommendations clearly.
- Respond to customer questions accurately and within the limits of assigned knowledge and authority.

- Comply fully with the Company’s health, safety, environmental and chemical-handling. requirements.
- Wear, inspect, maintain and correctly use all required Personal Protective Equipment.
- Confirm that assigned employees use the required PPE and follow approved safety procedures.
- Assist with job-hazard assessments and identification of risks at customer locations.
- Handle, transport, prepare, apply, store and dispose of products safely and responsibly.
- Ensure application equipment is inspected and used only for its intended purpose.
- Report hazards, incidents, accidents, exposure events, spills and near misses immediately.
- Assist with emergency-response actions within the limits of training and authorisation.
- Stop and report any activity that presents an immediate and serious safety risk.
- Promote environmentally responsible pest-management practices and responsible product use.

- Equipment, Vehicle and Inventory Control
- Operate Company vehicles responsibly, safely and in compliance with applicable requirements.
- Conduct or assist with required vehicle and equipment inspections.
- Help ensure that Company vehicles, equipment and work areas are maintained in a clean and serviceable condition.
- Confirm that products, tools and equipment are transported and secured appropriately.
- Report vehicle defects, equipment failures, losses, damage or maintenance concerns promptly.
- Assist with monitoring product levels, chemical usage, equipment allocation and stock movements.
- Help maintain accurate inventory and asset records.
- Promote the responsible use of Company vehicles, fuel, products, equipment and other resources.
- Report suspected wastage, misuse, unauthorised removal or loss of Company property.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate must possess:
- A minimum of five CSEC/CXC General Proficiency subjects at Grades I–III, including English Language and Mathematics, or an equivalent or higher qualification.
- A valid Grenada Driver’s Licence with a satisfactory driving record.
- Legal authorisation to work in Grenada.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer literacy and the ability to use mobile devices and digital systems for operational reporting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The following would be considered assets but are not mandatory:
- Previous experience coordinating employees, field activities, customer assignments or service operations.
• Previous experience in pest control, environmental services, agriculture, sanitation, facilities maintenance, landscaping, construction, logistics or another field-based service environment.
• Prior experience as a team leader, senior employee, foreperson, shift leader or supervisor.
• Certificate or formal training in Pest Control, Integrated Pest Management, Environmental Health, Agriculture, Occupational Health and Safety or a related discipline.
• Experience providing coaching, practical training or workplace guidance.
• Experience handling customer complaints or resolving service-related concerns.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Working knowledge of occupational health and safety principles.
• Familiarity with digital scheduling, field-service, inventory or reporting systems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

AUTHORITY DURING THE TRAINING PERIOD
During the training and development period, the employee may be authorised to:

LIMITATIONS OF AUTHORITY
Until formally trained, assessed and authorised, the employee must not independently:
• Select or approve unfamiliar treatments, products or technical methods.
• Provide technical instructions outside demonstrated competence.
• Approve work that requires higher technical or management authority.
• Make disciplinary, dismissal or other formal employment decisions.

PROGRESSION TO THE FULL SUPERVISORY POSITION
Progression to the fully functioning Lead Pest Control Technician/Supervisor position will not be automatic or based solely on length of service.
