Position Summary
A1 Pest Control Agency Ltd. is seeking motivated, dependable, and safety-conscious individuals to join its Operations team as Trainee Pest Control Technicians.

The Trainee Pest Control Technician will participate in A1’s structured onboarding, technical training, supervised field instruction and competency-development programme. Under the direction of an authorised supervisor, the successful candidate will learn to conduct pest inspections, identify common pest activity, apply approved treatment methods, operate pest-control equipment, maintain accurate service records and provide professional customer service.

Previous pest-control experience is not required. A1 is looking for candidates who demonstrate the right attitude, aptitude, reliability, professionalism and willingness to learn. As the employee develops the required technical knowledge and practical competence, progressively greater responsibilities may be assigned.

The Trainee Pest Control Technician may perform only those duties for which the employee has received appropriate training, demonstrated the required competence and obtained authorisation from the Company.

Key Responsibilities
The Trainee Pest Control Technician will:
  • Participate actively in A1’s structured onboarding, technical training, supervised field instruction, coaching and competency assessments.
  • Learn and follow A1’s approved pest-management procedures, safety standards and customer-service requirements.
  • Assist with scheduled pest-management services under the direction of an authorised supervisor.
  • Assist with inspections to identify pest activity, entry points, harbourage conditions and other factors contributing to infestations.
  • Record inspection observations accurately and report findings to the authorised supervisor.
  • Prepare equipment, materials and Personal Protective Equipment for assigned services.
  • Apply only those approved pest-control treatments for which the employee has been trained and authorised.
  • Handle pesticides, chemicals and treatment equipment strictly in accordance with supervisory instructions, approved product labels and Company procedures.
  • Follow approved Integrated Pest Management and environmentally responsible work practices.
  • Communicate approved service-preparation, prevention and aftercare information to customers.
  • Complete service reports, chemical-usage records, customer notes and other required operational documentation accurately and on time.
  • Use Digital tools and other approved digital systems as instructed.
  • Operate Company vehicles only when properly licensed, assigned and authorised.
  • Assist with the cleaning, inspection, storage and responsible care of Company vehicles, equipment, chemicals, PPE and other materials.
  • Report hazards, incidents, accidents, near misses, equipment defects and operational concerns promptly.
  • Stop work and seek guidance when an unfamiliar, unsafe or unusual situation is encountered.
  • Provide courteous, respectful and professional customer service.
  • Protect the confidentiality of Company and customer information.
  • Work cooperatively with supervisors, administrative employees and fellow technicians.
  • Participate in team meetings, toolbox talks, refresher training and continuous professional-development activities.
  • Represent A1 Pest Control Agency Ltd. professionally at all times.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must possess:
  • Five (5) CSEC/CXC General Proficiency subjects at Grades I–III, including English Language and Mathematics.
  • A valid Grenada Driver’s Licence with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer literacy and the ability to use mobile technology for communication, training and operational reporting.
  • The ability to read, understand and follow written instructions, product labels, safety information and Company procedures.
  • The ability to work effectively under supervision and follow established instructions.
  • The physical capability to perform the essential field-service duties of the position.
  • A professional, respectful and customer-focused approach.
  • A strong commitment to safety, teamwork, reliability and accountability.
  • A positive attitude and genuine willingness to learn and accept coaching.
  • Willingness to complete A1’s required onboarding, technical training and competency-assessment programme.
  • Willingness to travel to customer locations throughout Grenada.
  • Willingness to work on some Saturdays, perform night work and respond to emergency callouts when operationally required.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience
The following would be considered assets but are not mandatory:
  • Previous experience in pest control, environmental services, agriculture, landscaping, sanitation, facilities maintenance, hospitality maintenance or a related field.
  • Certificate or formal training in Pest Control, Integrated Pest Management, Environmental Health, Agriculture or a related discipline.
  • Experience in a field-service, customer-facing or mobile work environment.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Working knowledge of occupational health and safety principles.
  • Experience using tools, equipment or mobile applications.

Previous pest-control experience will not exempt a successful candidate from completing A1’s required training, competency assessment and authorisation process.

Completion of the probationary period does not, by itself, constitute technical certification or authorisation to work independently.

Physical and Working Requirements
The position involves work in residential, commercial, industrial, hospitality, institutional, government and outdoor environments throughout Grenada.

The successful candidate must be capable of:
  • Standing and walking for extended periods;
  • Bending, reaching, crouching and kneeling;
  • Lifting and carrying equipment and materials within established limits;
  • Working outdoors in varying weather conditions;
  • Wearing required Personal Protective Equipment for extended periods;
  • Travelling regularly to customer locations;
  • Working in different physical and environmental conditions; and
  • Using mobile devices and completing written or digital records.

Ladder use, work at height, entry into confined or restricted spaces and other higher-risk activities may be undertaken only after the employee has received the necessary training, equipment, supervision and authorisation.

Fitness for Duty and Substance Screening
Due to the safety-sensitive nature of this position, candidates must be willing to comply fully with A1 Pest Control Agency Ltd.’s Drug- and Alcohol-Free Workplace and Fitness-for-Duty requirements.

Any conditional offer of employment will be subject to the candidate providing informed written consent to and obtaining a satisfactory result from a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening conducted in accordance with the Company’s approved procedures and applicable requirements.

Employees must report for work fit and capable of performing their duties safely. Employees must not use, possess, distribute, or be under the influence of marijuana, illegal drugs, alcohol, or any other impairing substance while on duty, on Company premises, operating Company vehicles or equipment, attending customer locations, responding to an on-call assignment, or otherwise representing the Company.
